The Science Writing and Communication Club (SWAC) at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill was formed to foster the intellectual and professional development of aspiring science writers and communicators at all levels of graduate and postdoctoral training. Our goal is to provide club members with career exposure, writing experience, and training opportunities in science writing and communication.

We work together as a club to publish articles on our blog, The Pipettepen, on topics including research happening on campus, profiles of scientists, weird/wacky science articles, science history, and club events, and on the TIBBS Career Blog, on different career paths after graduate school. Additionally, we host a monthly seminar series with invited speakers with various backgrounds in scientific writing, including medical writers, journal editors, educational writers, etc.
